Well, at last I have seen a movie that portrays a great story, first-rate acting, an American tale of triumph and reform with the kind of directing that makes magic out of film- and all of the above with authentic courageousness. "THE BUTLER" is that film. It's the story of a black child who sees himself made an orphan in an instant--and through further strokes of fate-both bad and good-luckily becomes a butler at The White House serving as many as eight Presidents. It is a drama that takes in the Civil Rights' clash, Vietnam, and man-tragedies, facing the country and affecting the way the Presidents thought and consulted with their top ad visors in front of "Cecil Gaines".

No film with this success could have such a full soul without heart-felt directing by Lee Daniels, who also helped produce "THE BUTLER". What with budgets to adhere to and fierce time challenges to overcome and serve, he deserves much of the credit. Although I thought the script was mediocre, the line of the tale was quite moving. Its writer, Danny Strong, showed a lot of passion that I thought came through frequently.
I would suspect, "watch free movie", this kind of story has a lot of "plugged inserts" that probably can't correctly conform to what really happened. But perhaps "truth" is less crucial than the "non-truth" in a movie that coaches the cores of viewers with emotion. It's not vital that we verify what was shown, as that we can recall how we felt about what was shown which makes films worth their salt.
There's some raw film footage of the Civil Rights Movement that many of us who lived through that time may have forgotten, But hopefully that just shows how far we have come. So watch free movie "THE BUTLER"
